Solera Senior Living, a Denver-based operator, developer and investor of next generation senior living communities across the U.S., announced that it has strategically expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of SageLife, founded by senior living industry pioneer, Kelly Cook Andress. The acquisition includes five high performing senior living communities in Maryland, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
Solera will now operate Plush Mills, an Independent Living and Assisted Living community in Wallingford, PA; Daylesford Crossing, an Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Paoli, PA; Echo Lake, an Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Malvern, PA; Village Crossing at Worman’s Mill, an Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Frederick, MD; and Artisan at Hudson, an Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Hudson, MA. The move brings Solera’s growing portfolio to 14 properties spanning nine states, including a growing concentration in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Andress and Solera Founder and CEO, Adam Kaplan have known each other for several years through their work on the NIC Operator Advisory Board and their partnerships with AEW Capital Management and had both felt for some time that there was an opportunity to join their strengths. “Both organizations share a deep commitment and responsibility to innovation and transformation, resulting in high-quality, person-centered care, excellence in hospitality and an unparalleled resident experience,” said Kaplan. “This is an exciting milestone for both teams, as we are far better positioned today to build a world class, enduring brand that will redefine the senior living expectations for the next generation of residents.”
In conjunction with the acquisition, Andress will be joining Solera’s Advisory Board. Additionally, Solera has bolstered its leadership team with the addition of five core members of SageLife’s corporate team. Joining Solera are:
- Kim Smith, Vice President of Operations
- Beth Anne Maas, Regional Director of Clinical Services
- Heather Kato, Corporate Director of Marketing
- Kevin Caruso, Operations Specialist
- Marybeth Cannon, Sales Specialist
“Kelly’s visionary leadership transformed the senior living industry, and it’s an honor to carry on her incredible legacy,” said Kaplan. “She was a true pioneer, setting the standard for what luxury and hospitality-based services as well as compassionate care can look like for seniors. We are deeply grateful for the foundation she built and are committed to preserving the values and principles that have made SageLife such a respected name in the industry. As we move forward together, we look forward to creating even more opportunities for our residents, team members, and families, while continuing to honor the legacy of innovation and care that Kelly instilled in the heart of the company.”
The acquisition of SageLife comes less than one month after Solera assumes management of the former BrightView Bethesda Woodmont Assisted Living and Memory Care community upon the acquisition by Focus Healthcare Partners.
Solera’s newest properties join an already robust line up of Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care communities that includes Edgeworth Park at New Town (Williamsburg, Virginia), Hunters Woods at Trails Edge (Reston, Virginia), Lumina Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nevada), Modena Cherry Creek (Denver, Colorado), Modena
Reserve at Kensington (Kensington, Maryland), Reserve at Lake Austin (Austin, Texas), Trulee Evanston (Evanston, Illinois), and The Willows at Raleigh (Raleigh, North Carolina).
